Cost Basics

A college education is an important investment. In order to offer help, a school must first establish an estimate price of attendance. Based on the estimated cost of attendance and the information from the FAFSA, the FAU Office of Financial care processes offers to continuing and admit students .
Financial help offers are based on a cost of attendance that is constructed based on six components as designated by federal regulations ( tuition & fees, books & supplies, housing, dine, transportation system fees, and personal expenses ). Your actual monetary value may vary. Some programs involve extra costs. Please contact your department ( or prospective department ) if you have questions about extra costs .
Because costs are merely estimated, each scholar may find that their overall costs are more or less, depending on the scholar ’ s educational requirements and living arrangements. It ‘s important for the scholar ( or scholar ’ south family ) to calculate what the costs will be, so you can budget your finances, and manage your money wisely. Review FAUs Net Price Calculator, to give you an calculate cost to attend this University.

Period Based Budgeting

Every student receiving fiscal aid is assigned a cost of attendance based on the comply :

  • Classification = Undergraduate or Graduate
  • Residency = Florida or Non-Florida
  • Enrollment Status = Full-Time, ¾ time, half-time or less than half-time
  • Housing Status = On-campus, off-campus or with parents

Your Housing Status is initially assignedbased on your planned caparison reaction on the FAFSA application. After drop/add, students who indicated they would be living “ on campus ” but are not will be assigned a “ with parent ” housing condition by default. Students who indicated “ on campus ” on their FAFSA but are living off campus autonomous from parents/relatives should submit aHousing Status Revision Request with the allow documentation. The shape is located on our Financial Aid Forms foliate.
Your fiscal aid put up is initially based on an registration status of full time ( 12 credit hours for undergraduate fall, spring, and summer or 9 credit rating hours for graduates fall, spring and 6 citation hours for summer ). If your registration is less than full time expect your price of attendance to be reduced, this may also impact and reduce the amount of aid you were initially offered.
Florida Prepaid, Tuition Waivers, and Scholarships are considered resources and used to calculate help eligibility.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you will NOT be receiving enough fiscal care to cover all your charges for the semester, or are diffident of the sum you will need to pay, please check with the Controller’s Office during the first week of school. View Cost per Credit for a breakdown .
In cases where your charges exceed your financial aid offer, it is your responsibility to pay the amount of any uncovered charges by the semester’s last day to pay deadline to avoid a late payment fee of $100.00. The last day to pay deadline is listed on the Academic Calendar .
Billing Statements: For questions regarding your charge statement, please go to the FAU Controller ‘s web site FAQs .
